panagenda - Products - MarvelClient :: Features

panagenda MarvelClient has everything you need to take control of your Notes client configurationscosteffectively and efficiently (abstract):
  • Add, remove, move/position, and (mass)change (link, top of stack) desktop/workspace icons
  • Add, remove, move/position, and change (title, color) desktop/workspace tabs/pages
  • Add, remove, move/position, sort, and (mass)change (link, formula, type) bookmarks
  • Add, remove, move/position, sort, and (mass)change (server and detail settings) replicator page entries
  • Create, remove, change (filepath and encryption) local replicas
  • Real-Time database access/operation relocation- and restriction engine
  • Manage location- and connection documents, as well as organizational cross certificates
  • ECL Management
  • Housekeeping, for example, perdiodical compact of local databases, a regular hard- or software inventory, and more
  • Run any Lotus Notes/Domino agent - be it a simple, Formula, Lotus Script or Java agent - before login, after login or during client shutdown
  • Monitor the configuration of all your Lotus Notes clients - from desktop icons, through bookmarks, local replicas and replicator page entries, to location- and connection documents, notes.ini, Notes client and operating system details, and much more.
Amongst the various advantages of MarvelClient over any other client management offering in the market we consider the most important ones to be:
  • We have been doing client management ever since 2002, "365 days a year", for over 200 customers with more than 800,000 seats in over 40 countries
  • a single DLL; no local database requirements, no startup database, no extra windows (autostart) components - 100% Lotus Notes integration with one extention manager addin
  • immediate synchronisation during client startup - synchronizing later shifts the administration cycle by an entire day for normal end users, because changes downloaded today are then applied tomorrow at next login (normal end user usually only start notes once a day)
  • original login dialog - where other products introduce authentication limitations and potential security risks to the Notes client by replacing the login dialog, MarvelClient seamlessly integrates with the original Lotus Notes login dialog
  • significantly faster in combination with significantly less network traffic due to its design, programming in C++ and Assembler, and the incremental update architecture
  • real-time database relocation and restriction engine: Where the entire - up to "eight" hours lasting - notes session is totally out of control with other products, MarvelClient allows administrators to truly control and optimize the traffic generated by Lotus Notes clients
  • scalability, flexibility and transparency - where other products require you to act upon formerly collected client configurations almost on a one by one basis (scalability and flexibility problem), to dig through log files on a one by one basis to check whether changes were successful or not (transparency problem), MarvelClient can handle up to 1,500 changes per second with full transparency on what was done where and with what result

The major features of panagenda MarvelClient

Other major usecases for MarvelClient include (but are not limited to):
  • MarvelClient can also help significantly ease Lotus Notes client deployments by extending the capabilites of e.g. Windows login scripts, Tivoli, SMS or ZENworks - whilst these products are fantastic solutions for general software deployment, they are not "Notes aware". MarvelClient can do all the "Notes work" necessary during deployment, such as creating and pre-populating a local addressbook, personalizing the addressbook, bookmarks and the desktop; and more.
  • Realtime connectivity control is not limited to just desktop icons, bookmarks, or replicas, but also allows full control over which servers and databases are opened from within, for example, Lotus Script, Java, Composite Applications, document-, view-, and database-links.
  • MarvelClient allows for a comprehensive Notes roaming solution with no more than just a 2 MB footprint on a network drive (from Notes 5 to incl. Notes 7; footprint for Notes 8 can be considerably larger, subject to improve until Notes 8.5) - this also means, that no more than 2 MB are transferred to the network during client shutdown and in case of a roaming incident from the network.
Last but not least, MarvelClient also comes with an optional engine (MarvelZip) for seamless attachment compression and decompression and a powerful attachment blocking feature that blocks by file type. MarvelZip derives the file type from the file contents rather than just the extension, so renaming an .exe file to .txt won’t circumvent your rules.
